This was another assignment for my course, to scout out possible locations for an outdoor standard portrait shot (head and shoulders), then decide on one location and take the portrait shots. For this I had a few places in mind, as did Anya, they were in the same area so we went for a walk around and instead of just taking photos of an area I knew well, as possible locations, I actually took some portrait shots in each location

As part of the photography course I am doing there is a module called ‘People and Place’ which is kind of a mixture of Portraiture, Locations, and the bringing of them together to take better shots of people in specific contexts for potential clients.

St Peterburg Celebrated its 307th Birthday on Thursday 27th May 2010, however the celebrations went on for 4 days until Sunday 30th May, however we arrived in St Petersburg the morning after the official City day, but after a day of work, food, drink we didn’t see much of the events of the weekend until the next day.

We arrived into St Petersburg Pulkovo 1 airport from Moscow to be greeted by the damp cold that you just don’t get in Moscow, we took a cab we booked at the airport right into the historic Centre by St Isaac’s Cathedral where our hotel was for a reasonable 700 rubles.

Sokolniki Park is in the North East of Moscow and gets its name from the area of the city that the Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich’s Falconers used to live as Sokol means Falcon in Russian and he was a keen hunter.
