Travel Photography – Yekaterinburg Part 2

The next day we went for a walk down the river Isset from the original wooden dam (albeit with newer stone facing) that we saw on our first day here (see previous post)
Kamchatka – Rafting the Bystraya

So, on the 3 rafts, we had 21 people, and ALL our gear for the 2 week trip, and all the kitchen and dining setup, so consequently the boats were pretty heavily loaded.
Kamchatka – Tolbachik Volcano

It looked like a lunar lanscape of volcanic ash/sand and rock with small cones around us and the imposing site of Ostry (sharp) and Plosky (Flat) Tolbachik Volcanoes,
Kamchatka – Uzon Caldera and Valley of the Geysers

We arrived at the supposedly fantastic hotel with thermal baths, Helios Hotel in Paratunka, another highly innacurate description by the Vision of Kamchatka team, where we said goodbye to some of our group who were returning home.
Weekend in St Petersburg with the In-laws

As a finale to their enforced extension to their visit to Moscow due to the volcanic ash cloud over most of Europe we decided to go to St Petersburg.
Breaking the Ice on the Moskva

Whilst Lou and did a boat cruise on the River Moskva in the summer (on Moscow day) on a small boat with about 20 other people, in the winter this isn’t possible, however there is a longer cruise on an icebreaker.
