Travel Photography – Egypt – Temple of Horus

The Temple of Horus is known to be the best preserved acient temple in Egypt and second in size only to Karnak temple in Luxor.  The strange thing you will find as a photographer is that you can get up close and personal with the ruins and the hieroglyphics and large inscribed pictures.  This strikes me as a bit strange considering the intricate nature of some of them but who am I to argue, at last a part of ancient Egypt I can get some great photos of.

The temple is dedicated to the god Horus, the falcon god. and it lived up to its reputation, it is large, imposing, and therefore very busy with tourists despite the early arrival. I wasn’t sure if you could take tripods so I left mine on the boat and decided to rely on the 5D MKII’s reputation with higher ISO, on the whole I wasn’t disappointed and got some great photos.  Click on them to show the larger version (although still not the original size), and you can find more of my travel photos from Egypt on Flickr.
