Photography – Last game of Rugby Season 08/09

This last weekend I went to watch London Wasps play, and since we didn’t make the play-offs this year (which is unheard of in recent years) and several key players were either leaving or retiring after the game I took my Camera down, It was hard work taking the shots as the lens I have isn’t a particularly fast lens with a maximum aperture of f/4-5.6, but we were in the standing terrace and so were pretty close to the pitch so the 70-300mm lens worked well enough to get some decent shots. One key problem with this game though was that as it was the last game of the season there was a bit of a party atmosphere and we took some beers and food to have before the game, and had a few beers in the ground, so I did have a fair few out of focus shots that had to be discarded. I was mainly using the widest aperture available with the lens, and used AI Servo AF for the majority of the time as a lot of the shots would probably require me to track the subject with the camera. I would appreciate any feedback, and suggestions, hopefully I will get a faster Lens for occasions such as this soon.
